Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that gradually damages nerve cells and destroys memory and thinking skills. It's the most common cause of dementia in older adults.
Memory loss that disrupts everyday life is not a normal part of aging. This program explores the difference between normal age-related memory changes and abnormal changes that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, including some of the common warning signs. The presentation also reviews the importance of receiving a thorough diagnostic evaluation when symptoms first arise, current treatment options, and research regarding healthy aging.
Presented by Alzheimer’s NJ: They are a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping and supporting the people and families who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. They do that in a number of different ways through programs and services that they provide. All of the funds that they raise go right back to New Jersey Caregivers.
