Black bears are typically not aggressive animals, and tend to be wary of people. While extremely rare, predatory attacks can occur, as happened in West Milford, Passaic County, in September, 2014.

Bear sightings are increasing throughout the state of New Jersey. Do you know what to do if you see a bear?
This program will help you become educated in bear ‘etiquette’, You will learn ‘the bear necessities’, and walk away with a better understanding of bears.
