Author Scott T. Hanson will talk about his new award-winning and best-selling book, "Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners."

This presentation will introduce the book and discuss how a thoughtful approach to restoration can save both money and the historic character of a house while making it livable for 21st century lives. A question and answer period will follow.

Hanson is Director of Preservation Consulting Services for Sutherland Conservation & Consulting in Hallowell, Maine and has more than 40 years’ experience in the preservation field. His other books include Homes Down East, Classic Maine Coastal Cottages and Town Houses and The Architecture of Cushing’s Island, both co-written with Maine State Historian Earle G. Shettleworth. He has also written on historic houses and restoration for Down East magazine and The Boston Sunday Globe.

"Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners" is published by Tilbury House Publishing and distributed by W.W. Norton. Based on more than 40 years' experience, this 720-page hardcover volume with more than 2,000 photos and drawings was released in December 2019 and was an immediate hit across the country.
