Country-rock-folk band the Roadside Graves was formed by a group of childhood friends in Metuchen, NJ. Singer John Gleason, drummer Colin Ryan, guitarist Rich Zilg, guitarist Jeremy Benson, bassist Dave Jones, and keyboarder Johnny Piatkowski.
They recorded their first album, If Shacking Up Is All You Want to Do in 2002, and released it on their own War n Oats label. After several years of playing, they signed to Kill Buffalo Records and released the EP, What Happened to Him Could Happen to You on January 30, 2007. This was followed on April 3, 2007, by their second full-length CD, No One Will Know Where You've Been. In 2009, they signed to Autumn Tone Records, which released their third album, My Son's Home, on June 9, 2009. On February 23, 2010, Autumn Tone re-released If Shacking Up Is All You Want to Do with bonus tracks. A newly recorded EP, You Won't Be Happy with Me, and a full-length record inspired by the novel "The Outsiders," We Can Take Care of Ourselves followed. In 2015, the band signed with the label Don Giovanni, and released Acne/Ears. Recently, the band has released a collection of oddities, demos, and live tracks on the compilation God Makes Junk. They are currently recording their sixth full-length record, That's Why We Are Running Away.
