Presenter: Tom Reeder is a native of New Jersey and has lived here most of his life. His interest in plants began at age thirteen, when he tended to a plot of day lilies. His interest continued with his first vegetable garden at age sixteen and continues today with several raised beds, raspberries and blueberries.
Tom was a member of the Cornell class of 1975, but not the College of Agriculture. He studied Industrial Engineering but ended up working with his brother designing and assembling interfaces and memory systems for process control computers. That career later morphed into software design and implementation for a major pharmaceutical company.
Coaxed by his daughter, Tom joined the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Somerset County, graduating in 2018. He currently co-leads the Speakers Bureau and has volunteered for many events in the organization.
