Join the Ukrainian History and Education Center for a pysanka making program. Learn about the history of the pysanka, (a Ukrainian decorated egg) and create your own, with step by step instruction.
ALL MATERIALS TO MAKE THE PYSANKY WILL BE PROVIDED.

During the period of Lent preceding Pascha, or Easter, Ukrainians write pysanky, or decorate eggs, using ancient symbols. From the deep past, these patterns were thought to imbue the egg with magical powers and ward away evil spirits, and they later took on Christian meanings. During this workshop, participants will make their own pysanka using the traditional wax-resist method.
