Facts and Fictions in the Criminal Justice System
Presented by Dr. John Paitakes
Dr. Paitakes will clarify and inform about some facets of the criminal justice system.

Law enforcement has come under a great deal of scrutiny as of late for the use of excessive force. Dr. Paitakes will discuss this in this program.
In this program, we will also learn about the issue of rehabilitation in correctional settings and its availability.
Community supervision, probation and parole will be addressed. These two alternatives to incarceration represent the majority of individuals under correctional supervision.
The judicial disposition of cases of whether judges may have become too liberal on crime will be discussed. The disposition of a case, and the criteria considered will be explained.
Presenter: Dr.John Paitakes has been a Probation Officer for over twenty five years with the Somerset County Courts. Upon retiring from this position he taught criminal justice at Seton Hall University for twenty years. He was appointed by 2=two different Governors to the New Jersey State parole Board where he interviewed over seven thousand inmates applying for parole. He is presently a criminal justice consultant.
