Mid-August evenings are prime time for one of the most impressive meteor showers of the year, the Perseids, which peak on August 12. On this night, we’ll enjoy brilliant telescopic views of a crescent moon as it sinks in the west, and as its light fades, the meteors will be more visible. When we’re not scanning for meteors, we’ll view bright gas clouds thousands of light years away, like the Ring, Dumbbell, Lagoon and Trifid nebulae, glittering clusters of 100,000 stars in the constellation Hercules, and beautiful double stars like Albireo and Epsilon Lyrae. Join us for this exciting and educational evening under the stars! Join us in the evening by the soccer field adjacent to the library and municipal complex!
