We’re launching a film discussion series with "Anatomy of a Fall," the 2024 Oscar winner for Best International Feature. Attendees must watch the film beforehand; there will be no library screening.

Sandra, her husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son Daniel live a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he committed suicide – or if his wife pushed him to his death. Once Sandra becomes the main suspect, what follows is not just an investigation into the circumstances of Samuel's death but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of a deeply conflicted relationship. French writer-director Justine Triet’s masterful film, winner of the prestigious Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, is a riveting courtroom thriller, a searing family portrait, and a tantalizing character study all wrapped into one. Anatomy of a Fall won the 2024 Academy Awards for Best International Feature and Best Original Screenplay, and earned a nomination for leading lady Sandra Hüller.

In French, German, and English with subtitles.
