Silent Book Club is a global community of readers with nearly 2000 chapters in 55+ countries. Over a million members gather around the world to read together and swap stories.
Once per month, the introverts and quieter social butterflies of Somerville and the surrounding areas convene in the Reading Room of the Somerville branch. What do they do? Well, those wishing to socialize may do so in the first half hour. Compare books, chat about your lattes, and discuss how cool the library is. Then it is one blissful hour of silent reading. In a group. At the library. Sometimes music will be played very softly. The last 15 minutes are for grabbing your next read, making plans for after book club, putting on jackets, and moving toward the exits because it's closing time. We hope you have found your friends.
