The document... the day...the journey...the celebration. From conception to celebration (and a whole lot of independence in between).
Also called the Fourth of July, Independence Day marks the historic date in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress.
The program will explore America from conception to celebration. It covers the history of Magna Carta; the English Bill of Rights; the French and Indian War; the Declaration of Independence, and the Revolutionary War; the French Revolution and Napoleon; the War of 1812, and right up to Independence Day today.
Fasten your saddles and seat belts. This is going to be quite a ride.
Presenter: Joel Farkas, Lecturer at Lifelong Learning Institute at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Joel is a graduate of The Ohio State University and was an officer in the United States Army. He is a National Park Service volunteer docent at Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown NJ and a recipient of the National Park Service Centennial Volunteer Challenge Award. He is a collector of original historical autographs.
