The Bell Holder was originally named Ruth's Barge, but archived documents and a detailed site plan pointed to the wreck's name and history.

The presenter will demonstrate how wreck site mapping, analysis of artifacts, and archival research can be used to identify a long-forgotten shipwreck.

Presenter: Dan Lieb is a shipwreck diver and has led and participated in dozens of archaeological expeditions in New Jersey and the surrounding region for more than thirty years mapping shipwrecks.

His enthusiasm for local maritime history allows him to identify shipwrecks in NJ waters. He holds a PADI Divemaster rating and has logged over 2,300 dives since 1974.
