Personal Assistance Services Program (PASP) allows individuals to be independent with dignity and choice about their care needs to remain productive, active, and safe in the community. PASP is a program that authorizes a monthly dollar allocation to persons ages 18 and older living with permanent physical disabilities, are able to self-direct, and who are not on or eligible for Medicaid. The individual must be employed, attending an educational or training program to prepare for employment, attending school or volunteering for a minimum of 20 hours per month. This impactful program provides funds for personal care, transportation, errands, housekeeping, and medical supplies (to name a few) and allows the consumer to choose an agency or personal hire. Eligible consumers may receive up to 40 hours of self-direct routine, non-medical personalized care weekly.
Monthly budgets can be used to:
-Hire workers to assist with tasks related to personal, household management, or transportation.
-Purchase chore or errand services to assist with banking, shopping, cleaning, and more.
-Purchase supplies and/or equipment to enhance or promote independence.
Program Eligibility:
-Resides in New Jersey and is living independently in the community.
-Have a permanent disability and require assistance with at least one activity of daily living.
-Be 18 years of age or older.
-Be capable of directing and supervising their own services.
-Be employed, attending an educational or training program to prepare for employment, attending school, or volunteering for minimum of 20 hours per month.
-Not Medicaid eligible or receiving Medicaid.
