Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Hispano or Hispánico refers to persons, cultures, or countries related to the Spanish language, Spanish culture, Spanish people, or to Spain in general. Paella might have had origins in Valencia, Spain, but its roots are from the Moors in Muslim Spain of the 10th century.
All Spanish speaking countries in the world have a descendant from paella:
Arroz con gandules – Puerto Rican
Arroz con pollo – Latin American
Jambalaya – Louisiana
Locrio – Dominican
Paelya – Filipino
Chef Kir will make a Latin American version of paella to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
This will be followed by a demonstration on how to make sangria. From its roots in Spain, sangria has grown to become a popular, refreshing party drink around the world. In the United States, sangria was first tasted at the 1964 World's Fair in New York.
Presented by Chef Kir Rodriguez, of the International Culinary Center.
