A collection of biographical vignettes highlighting outspoken African American women of the 19th Century. Presented by Storyteller Queen Nur.
These women include Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, Ida B. Wells, Mary Church Terrell, and Mary McCleod Bethune. Themes of courage and fortitude are explored as the one-woman performance reveals each heroine’s oratory style and fashion of the period. Made possible by funds from the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
