Poetry is a way to express feelings, thoughts and ideas. Open mic afternoon is an opportunity to learn about poetry, read poetry aloud, and listen to it being read.
Are you a poetry enthusiast? Celebrate National Poetry Month with us as we host an open mic afternoon. Dr. John P. Wargacki, an Associate Professor of English at Seton Hall University, will warm us up by surveying a number of poets, old and new, with a focus of American poetry. Afterwards, participants will have an opportunity to share a favorite poem or one they've written themselves. Leave with a "poem in your pocket," so you will be ready for "Poem in Your Pocket Day" on April 29th.
Dr. John P. Wargacki teaches American literature with a passion to inspire a deeper love and appreciation of literature and the arts. His scholarly pursuits focus on the poetry of later 19th and early 20th century America. Dr. John P. Wargacki has published and presented on Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, and Robert Frost just to name a few.
