The Battle of Bound Brook (April 13, 1777) was a surprise attack conducted by British and Hessian forces against a Continental Army outpost at Bound Brook, during the American Revolutionary War.
A PowerPoint overview of how and why the Battle of Bound Brook came to be fought in early spring of 1777, and why it has been largely forgotten. This program will also look at the tactical and strategic situation in central New Jersey prior to the battle, including British strategy, American counter strategy, troop movements and battle accounts. The presenter will tell how this battle affected the Spring Campaign of May-June 1777 and British attempts to clear a line of advance to Philadelphia.
Using period mapping and accounts of the battle’s participants, the presenter will trace the footsteps and fighting of British and American forces in and around Bound Brook on Sunday April 13, 1777.
Presented by Ernest Bower R CIV USARMY LRC (USA).
