A will can help keep your hard-earned assets, like your home, so that it would be left to your family members of your choice. A health care proxy allows you to appoint someone else to act as your agent for medical decisions. It ensures that your medical treatment instructions are carried out.
Not having a will and healthcare proxy may be an added financial and emotional burden to your family during a difficult time.
