This story of a misanthrope transformed by the visions of his past, present and future found a place in the hearts of both poor and rich. The novella not only celebrates the spirit of the Christmas season but its message of love, forgiveness and redemption is timeless and universal.
It has been translated into several languages and adapted countless times for the stage and the screen.
In this program, the presenter will focus on the plot, characters and theme of the book, as well as on Dickens’ mastery over the art of story telling.

Vandana has a master’s degree in English and taught for thirty years in India before moving to the United States. For almost ten years, she have been teaching literature from across the world at Osher Life Learning Institute at Rutgers University. She has a passion for reading and loves to discuss everything she reads.
