Explore soil layers and discover the soil's role in plant and animal life with this edible science activity.

Note to kids in the kitchen: Be careful and make sure you have grown-up supervision.

Please gather your ingredients before the program begins.

INGREDIENTS*:

  • chocolate chips (a handful)
  • butterscotch chips (a handful)
  • chocolate pudding (1 snack pack size)
  • Oreo cookies (4 or 5)
  • shredded coconut (a handful)
  • green food coloring (1 or 2 drops to color the coconut)
  • gummy worms (2 or 3)

OTHER ITEMS NEEDED:

  • plastic spoons
  • clear plastic cup - 8 oz or larger (You may substitute a clear glass for the plastic cup.)
  • sticky post its or labels
  • pen, pencil or marker

*The exact amount of each ingredient will depend on the size of your plastic cup or glass.
