SCLSNJ
The Cold Rain and Snow is a collective — a collaboration among members of the beloved NJ bluegrass act, Magnolia Street String Band and their various acoustic instrument wielding friends.
Cold Rain and Snow typically features Matt Backes on mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and vocals, and Sheila Shukla on vocals, guitar, mandolin, and occasionally bass. Other contributors have included Bobby Baxmeyer, Pierce Backes, Jack Firneno, Paul Prestopino, Ron Greenstein, Nick Conti, Daniella Fischetti, Mike Aucott, Ed McLaughlin, Jimmy Heffernan, Susie Jivotovski, and more. The music they make tends toward Americana with some of the cosmic mixed in. Matt writes some of the songs. Most of the others are covers and explorations of American roots music, folk-rock, alt-country, old-time, and psych-folk. Dig in.
