Let's Cook: Patriotic Popcorn

(grades 3-5 and their caregivers)

Pop your way into this delicious red, white, and blue snack, perfect for Memorial Day and other patriotic celebrations. It's salty! It's sweet! It's fun!

INGREDIENTS

• 1-3oz package of microwave popcorn (yields approx. 10 cups cooked popcorn)
• Salt to taste
• 3 tbsp. Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
• 3 1/2 cups Mini Marshmallows
• 1/2 cup - Red, white, and blue sprinkles (if available)*
• 1 cup - Red and Blue Regular M&M’s (if available)*
• 1 cup - Red and Blue Pretzel M&M's (optional - if available)*
  * You may substitute other colors of M&M's or sprinkles.

OTHER ITEMS NEEDED:

• Medium saucepan to melt the marshmallows
• Mixing bowl
• Measuring spoons
• Mixing spoon
• Cookie sheet covered with foil or parchment paper
