Have you ever felt alone, embarrassed, or scared about what you were thinking and feeling? Did you hesitate to reach out to others for help because you did not want people to treat you differently? These are examples of stigma. Stigma is the practice of associating negative thoughts and feelings with certain conditions; it is still very prevalent with mental health and substance use disorders.
Come hear from Somerset County Stigma-Free, an initiative of the Somerset County Department of Human Services to raise awareness about mental health and the very tangible impact that stigma and stereotypes have on individuals and the community. Learn about mental health and substance use conditions and the very real experiences of members of our community who cope with them. Help reduce stereotypes, create empathy, and support diversity in your community. Become Stigma-Free!
At the conclusion of the program please feel free to take a brief online survey here:
