The history of the Great Swamp starts with the formation of the Watchung Mountains, continuing through the last glacial period which formed the glacial Lake Passaic. This program offers a few glimpses of the area in the 1800’s and moves on to the establishment of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
