Photographer and world traveler Joel Simpson, will explore an India unknown to most Americans. Discover Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and the Agra Area, including the Taj Mahal and other Mughal Wonders.
Last year photographer Joel Simpson spent a month exploring the India that most Americans never see. He shares his journey in a powerful 90-minute slide show that features visits to lively popular quarters (a.k.a slums) in Mumbai; the fabulous night fire ceremony of the Theyyam in Kannur, Kerala; the art and architecture of the great temple cities of Tamil Nadu; the huge imperial ruin of Hampi (1336–1570 CE, famous for its elephant stables and decorative architecture); the amazing cave temples of Ajanta & Ellora, wholly carved out of mountains; the preternaturally beautiful Mughal tomb and imperial architecture of the Agra area, of which the Taj Mahal is only the most famous, but not necessarily the most beautiful edifice; and he attends the raucous Holi Festival, where people throw colored powder on each other, in Krishna's traditional stomping ground of Vrindaban and Mathura—and much much more!
You'll see the pilgrims, the workers, the bathers, the people in the streets young and old, also the art & architecture from over 1000 years, the markets (with their wildlife), and some prehistoric carvings as well.
