The Newark Museum’s collection of American art ranks among the finest of any museum of its size in the United States.
This presentation highlights American artists who have interpreted the people, culture and tenor of the times in which they lived, from colonial portraiture to today’s contemporary (and sometimes controversial) art. Featured artists include: John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keefe, Romare Bearden, Joseph Stella, Andy Warhol, and George Segal among many others.
