Friday the 13th has long been associated with bad luck. Prof. Deborah Hoeflinger will explore the origins of familiar superstitions, how they have developed, and why they still exist today.
Two thirds of Americans report holding beliefs that qualify as superstitions. Friday the 13th has even inspired a phobia, paraskevidekatriaphobia or fear of Friday the 13th.
Who is most likely to be superstitious? Are there different types of superstitions?
