This novel is Anne Bronte's second novel. It was published in 1848.
Anne Bronte was the younger sister of Charlotte and Emily Bronte and is often the sister who is neglected by readers of Victorian literature. Anne was a great writer in her own right.
Read Anne's novel and become immersed in the world of Helen Graham, a mysterious young widow, who carries a secret about her past and who is very protective of her young son.
"The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" is considered to be one of the first sustained feminist novels. May Sinclair, in 1913, said that the slamming of Helen's bedroom door against her husband reverberated throughout Victorian England. In leaving her husband, Helen violates not only social conventions, but also English law. A great read!
