We'll bask in all things Audrey Hepburn when we screen William Wyler's classic romantic comedy that finds her falling head over heels for both Gregory Peck and "The Eternal City."
Overwhelmed by her suffocating schedule, touring European princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) takes a night off while in Rome. When a sedative she took from her doctor kicks in, she falls asleep on a park bench and is found by American reporter Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck), who takes her back to his apartment for safety. At work the next morning, Joe finds out Ann's regal identity, then bets his editor he can get an exclusive interview with her -- but romance inevitably gets in the way. Roman Holiday marked Audrey Hepburn's American movie debut, and rarely has a young actress make such a big splash. The movie earned her the 1954 Academy Award for Best Actress and set her on a path to become one of Hollywood's most enduring leading ladies and fashion icons. After we watch the movie, we’ll also take a brief look at Hepburn's personal bio and her body of work.
"Hepburn and Peck turning in superb performances," says The Hollywood Reporter. "Roman Holiday is 118 minutes of sheer entertainment." The London Times called it "a rom-com colossus, and one that has been aped and emulated in everything from Notting Hill to Trainwreck to Jennifer Lopez's recent Marry Me."
Directed by William Wyler. Starring Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert.
Runtime: 1 hour 58 minutes
