America’s relationship with Canada has not always been as friendly as it is today. Back in 1775, before independence was declared and several times during our second war with Great Britain (1812-1815) American armies attempted but ultimately failed to invade and conquer Canada. In the mid and late 19th century, before Canada gained its own independence, there were several more attempts to disrupt the Canadian government or at least influence their politics. We will briefly explore this tumultuous history and the lessons that may be learned from it.
