Harp, Cello, Vocals
ELAINE CHRISTY, harpist, is winner of the American Harp Society National Harp Competition. She has
performed at Carnegie’s Weill Hall, the Riverside, St. Bartholomew, Merkin Hall and Trinity Church concert
series and has appeared with the CBS Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman. A past member of
the Board of Directors of the World Harp Congress and the American Harp Society, Ms. Christy has also
served as a national competition judge. Elaine Christy holds a doctorate degree from the Manhattan School of
Music and is currently Harp Instructor at Princeton University.
Accompanying Elaine will be HANFANG ZHONG, violinist, a native of Beijing, China. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory and a Master of Music degree from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
ARTHUR COOK, who will be playing the cello, has appeared as a chamber musician and soloist in summer festivals at Sandpoint, Meadowmount, Taos,Yale at Norfolk, Rutgers and Apple Hill. He has served as artistic director
for Lyrica and Artists in the Hall as well as principal cellist and soloist for the Wayne Chamber Orchestra, the New Philharmonic and the New York Symphonic Ensemble on its Japan tour.
PETER SCHERTZ is a young Baritone from New Jersey with a degree in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College. Peter is a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra Symphonic Choir, and will perform works such as Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and Bernstein’s Kaddish Symphony starting in December under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
GRACE GILDAY, soprano, has a commanding a voice of “unusual color and sweetness”.Grace has become an audience favorite in her D.C. hometown and recently made her NYC debut with NY Session Symphony, singing Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Grace was also the soprano soloist in Fauré’s Requiem, and Dvořák's Stabat Mater with the Westminster Symphonic Choir.
