This program will focus on the history of US Presidential elections and how New Jersey voted. All significant elections since the founding of the country will be discussed including the important elections of 1800, 1824, 1860 and 1876. Emphasis will be all elections from 1912 to the present discussing the candidates, the issues, the campaigns, and the results. Profiles of New Jersey candidates will be provided including future NJ Governor George McClellan (1864), Vice President Garret Hobart (1896), and NJ Governor Woodrow Wilson (1912).
Presenter: Brian Armstrong, a Political Science major from American University in Washington, DC, is a collector of US presidential election memorabilia and will bring some of his favorite campaign buttons and other items to the presentation.
