Learn the history of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey beginning with its headquarters location at Somerville's "other library." Presented by Ken Kaufman, local history librarian.
When it was established in 1930, the Somerset County Library System was mandated through a referendum to supply books to a predominantly rural setting. Local history librarian, Ken Kaufman, examines the library's beginnings in its efforts to expand library service to all corners of the county, as well as its evolution toward serving a more suburbanized and growing population in the post-war era.
